Ancestry of Michael (Mor) Daugherty, immigrant

Generation One

1. Michael (Mor) Daugherty (Liam O'Dougherty, #2) was born circa 1690 in the Laggan Valley, Co. Donegal, Ireland, and died 1761 in Augusta Co., VA. He married Catherine Rodgers circa 1712, daughter of Cahir (Charles) Rodgers (McRory), born in Manorcunningham, Laggan Valley.

Manorcunningham is on a hill above the highway and looks west on Laggan Valley farmland and Loch Swilly, with more of Co. Donegal across the Swilly.

Generation Two

2. Liam2 O'Dougherty (Liam, #4) married Sila O'Cleary (see #3). He was born circa 1645 at Laggan Valley, Donegal, Ireland.

 NOTE: Several American Doherty/Daugherty genealogists wishfully list Sir Cahir O'Doherty as our Irish ancestor. However, he (Cahir Rua, "Red Charles") was killed at age 21 without heirs shortly after announcing his engagement. He was the last ruling Gaelic Chieftain. His brother John (Sean) carried on the lineage.

Children of Liam2 O'Dougherty and Sila O'Cleary (see #3) were:

1 i. Michael (Mor)1 Daugherty.

3. Sila2 O'Cleary married Liam O'Dougherty (see #2), son of Liam O'Dougherty. She was born circa 1650?

Generation Three

4. Liam3 O'Dougherty (Sean O'Dochartaigh, #8) died at Laggan Valley, Donegal, Ireland. He was born in 1605 at Isle of Barth (Burt), Donegal, Ireland.

Children of Liam3 O'Dougherty include:

2 i. Liam2 O'Dougherty.

Generation Four

8. Sean4 O'Dochartaigh (Conn, #16) was born in 1565 at Elaghmore, Tyroconnell, Ireland.

Children of Sean4 O'Dochartaigh both born Isle of Barth (Burt), Donegal, Ireland include:

i. Eoghan3 O'Dougherty; born 1600.
4 ii. Liam O'Dougherty.

Generation Five

16. Conn5 O'Dochartaigh (Aodh, #32) died at Letter, Gaddyduff, Tyroconnell, Ireland. He was born circa 1515 at Inishowen, Tyroconnell, Ireland.

Children of Conn5 O'Dochartaigh include:

8 i. Sean4 O'Dochartaigh.

Generation Six

32. Aodh6 O'Dochartaigh (Cornelius, #64) married Monca O'Hagen (see #33). He was born in 1480 at Inishowen, Tyroconnell, Ireland.

Children of Aodh6 O'Dochartaigh and Monca O'Hagen (see #33) were:

16 i. Conn5 O'Dochartaigh.

33. Monca6 O'Hagen married Aodh O'Dochartaigh (see #32), son of Cornelius O'Dochartaigh and Sarce McDavitt. She was born circa 1485?

Generation Seven

64. Cornelius7 O'Dochartaigh married Sarce McDavitt (see #65). He died at Sharagore, Inishowen, Tyroconnell, Ireland. He was born circa 1440 at Inishowen, Tyrconnell, Ireland.

Children of Cornelius7 O'Dochartaigh and Sarce McDavitt (see #65) were as follows:

i. Rosa6 O'Dochartaigh; born 1478 at Sharagore, Inishowen, Tyroconnell, Ireland.
32 ii. Aodh O'Dochartaigh.
iii. Conn O'Dochartaigh; born 1484 at Inishowen, Tyroconnell, Ireland.

65. Sarce7 McDavitt married Cornelius O'Dochartaigh (see #64). She was born circa 1445?
