1. Mary "Polly"1 Whitaker (James, #2) was born 8 Sep 1766. She married Abner Ross, son of David Ross and Hannah Scudder, 20 Feb 1794. She died 8 Apr 1846 at Fairfield Co., SC, at age 79.

Generation Two

2. James2 Whitaker (John, #4) was born ca 1740 at Warwick Co., VA. He married Catherine Wiggins (see #3), daughter of Capt. John Wiggins of Martin Co., NC, and Catherine "Catie" Baker, before 1760. He died on 22 Apr 1782 at Fairfield Co., SC; when will proved by William Whitaker, Jr., died in Kershaw Dist., SC. He left a will written 12 Apr 1777 at Craven Co., SC; James Whitaker of Craven Co., listing all seven of his children (Martha, Catherine, Willis, John Wiggins, James, Mary, and Simon), but left land only to the sons, and gave negroes to his wife Mary.

i. Willis1 Whitaker; b. circa 1761? at Kershaw Dist., SC; d. 1832.
ii. John Wiggins Whitaker; b. circa 1762?
iii. Catherine Whitaker; b. circa 1765; m. Frances Boykin circa 1780 at in or near, Camden, Kershaw Co., SC; d. before 1820 at Milledgeville, Baldwin Co., GA; no woman of her age was on 1820 census.
iv. Martha Whitaker; b. circa 1765; m. James Cantey 1785 at Fairfield Co., SC; d. 19 May 1806 at Washington, GA.

vii. Simon Whitaker; b. circa 1772?

3. Catherine2 Wiggins (John, #6) was born before 1740 at NC. She married James Whitaker (see #2), son of John Whitaker and Martha Gough, before 1760. She died after 1780.

4. John3 Whitaker married Martha Gough (see #5). He was born circa 1700.

i. William2 Whitaker; m. Elizabeth Wiggins; b. circa 1730? at VA; d. 1789 at Fairfield Co., SC.

5. Martha3 Gough married John Whitaker (see #4). She was born circa 1705?

6. John3 Wiggins (Capt.) (Unknown, #12) was born circa 1716 at England?; "was an Englishman who came over and settled on the Roanoke River Martin Co. about 50 years before the Revolution. He was a very land landlord running from Enfield to Hamilton. His mother was a Stuart. His wife was Miss Baker. They had several heirs -- among them Blake Baker, Lamb (?), Richard and Thomas . . ", He married Catherine "Catie" Baker (see #7), daughter of Henry Baker and Angelica Bray, circa 1734?; eloped through window, "great aunt Caty represented to be a large bouncing girl as most of the Baker girls were in olden times, eloped through that small window (what cannot love accomplish) with Mr. Wiggins. Her remains are resting side by side with Mr. Wiggins under apear tree in Wiggins' old field of Wiggins Swamp," from a story written 1847 by Simmons Jones Baker. He married Elizabeth Bevins (Mrs.) on 30 Sep 1766 at Bertie Co., NC; his 2nd wife, John Wiggins, planter from Halifax Co. to Mrs. Bevins, a widow. He died on 15 Jul 1786 at Martin Co., NC.

He lived in Mar 1740 at Edgecombe Co., NC; received Land Grant for 450 acres and 320 acres north of Conoho Creek, also on Mill Creek and south of Roanoke River in Edgecombe Co., adjoining Richard Wiggins. He left a will on 16 Dec 1783 at Martin Co., NC; was written, mentioning wife Wlizabeth, son Blake Baker Wiggins, daughter Elizabeth Jones, son William, five children of Elizabeth Jones. Executors were sons Lemuel and Blake Baker Wiggins.

Children of John3 Wiggins (Capt.) and Catherine "Catie" Baker (see #7) were as follows:
i. Winifred2 Wiggins; b. circa 1735; m. Richard Hoskins 1763; and went down the Roanoke River in an open boat on their wedding day; her wedding dress was spun from flax grown on her father's farm in Halifax Co; d. 7 Oct 1807 at Chowan Co., NC; a very old and respectable inhabitant of the county.
ii. Thomas Wiggins; b. circa 1737 at NC; m. Frances "Fannie" Brown 8 May 1766 at Halifax Co., NC; d. 28 Sep 1782 at Martin Co., NC.
iii. William Wiggins; m. Priscilla Brown; b. before 1738; d. between 1790 and 1791 at Halifax Co., NC.
3 iv. Catherine Wiggins.
v. Lemuel Wiggins; b. 22 Dec 1742; dates from family Bible in possession of Shirley S. Wiggins, Tallahassee, FL, per Agness Wiggins Gunter; m. Ann Hoskins 5 Jun 1770 at Chowan Co., NC; marriage bond issued 2 Jun 1770, Lemuel Wiggins of Halifax Co. and Ann Hoskins of Chowan Co. Bible record states married 5 Jun 1770; d. 23 Jun 1806 at age 63.
vi. Blake Baker Wiggins; b. 1746 at NC; m. Sallie Lee 17 Oct 1776; d. 18 Dec 1808 at Martin Co., NC.
vii. Pattie Wiggins; b. before 1747; m. Thomas Hoskins before 1767; d. after 1767.

7. Catherine "Catie"3 Baker (Henry, #14) was born before 1725. She married John Wiggins (Capt.) (see #6), son of Unknown Wiggins and Miss Stuart, circa 1734?; eloped through window, "great aunt Caty represented to be a large bouncing girl as most of the Baker girls were in olden times, eloped through that small window (what cannot love accomplish) with Mr. Wiggins. Her remains are resting side by side with Mr. Wiggins under apear tree in Wiggins' old field of Wiggins Swamp," from a story written 1847 by Simmons Jones Baker. She died before 1766 at Martin Co., NC; when her husband remarried.

12. Unknown4 Wiggins married Miss Stuart (see #13). He was born circa 1690 at England.
