JOSHUA BROCK was probably the grandfather
of MOSES BROCK, born 1751-1755, of Halifax Co., VA, although a
descendant says Moses was born in England and immigrated to VA
abt 1774. Moses had a son George born in Franklin Co., VA, some
of whose children were born in Grainger Co., TN, over-lapping
in that area with descendants of James Brock, Revolutionary soldier
who died in Cumberland Co., KY, brother of Jesse born 1751 in
Cumberland Co., VA, also a Revolutionary soldier, who settled
in Harlan Co., KY.
When I first corresponded with descendants
of Moses Black Brock born Bedford Co., VA, they did not know whose
son he was. Since Bedford Co. came out of Albemarle Co. in 1752,
he may instead have been a grandson of Joshua Brock's brother
George Brock, Jr. (sons of George Sr.)
Moses's son George had a son James whose
son David Brock moved to MO in the 1850's and had two daughters
who married Daugherty brothers. This is David Brock's daughter
Delila Jane who md. 1st Florinton Bennett, 2nd John Hewlet, and
3rd Alonza Shrum.
