near the Ocoee River, Benton, Polk Co., TN.

He served in the Milittary in the War of 1812 from McMinn Co.,
TN, a fifer in Johnson's 3rd Regt., Pvt. in Capts. Andrew, Lawson
and Duggins Cos., East Tennessee Militia.
He was enumerated in the census of 1830
in McMinn Co., TN, as age 40-50, wife 30-40, ten children (two
males under 5, two males 5-10, two males 10-15, one female under
5, one female 5-10, two females 15-20).
In 1840 McMinn Co., TN, he was enumerated
as Jonathan Longley, age 50-60, with wife 40-50 and 9 children
(one male 5-10, one male 10-15, one male 15-20, one male 20-30,
one female 20-30, and two females 30-40).
In his father William Longley's Revolutionary
Pension Application file, he gave an affidavit: Personally appeared
before me Solomon Sweeney an acting Justice of the peace in and
for Said County Jonathan LONGLEY and made oath in due form of
Law. That he is the Son of William LONGLEY a Revolutionary Soldier
Decd and Mary LONGLEY his wife, and that he was born in the year
Seventeen hundred Eighty Eight and is fifty six years of age as
he has always understood and believes and that his Said Father
William LONGLEY drew a Pension during his natural life.JONATHAN
LONGLEY.
In 1841 Jonathan LONGLEY signed a Deed
Conveyance} This Indenture Made and entered into this 16th of
April 1841 Between Jonathan LONGLEY of the county of McMinn and
State of Tennessee of the one part and John MATLOCK of the county
and State aforesaid of the other part. Witnesseth that the said
Jonathan LONGLEY for and in consideration of the sum of twenty
five dollars . . . lying in the County of McMinn and on the south
side of Eastaville Creek and being a part of the N.E. quarter
of section 35 in township three in range two West of the Meridien
of the Hiawasee District . . . top of Eastaville ridge . . . twenty
acres . . . 1841 5
In 1850 he deeded land -- Jonathan LONGLEY
granted to John MATLOCK 220 acres Eastonville Creek . . . On this
26th day of October AD 1850 personally appeared before me a Justice
of the Peace within and for the County and state aforesaid JONATHAN
LONGLEY aged seventy years a resident of Polk Co. in the State
of Tennessee who being duly sworn according to law declares that
he is the identical Jonathan Longley who was a private in the
company commanded by Captain Andrew Lawson in the 3rd regiment
of East Tennessee militia commanded by Col. Johnston in the war
with great Britain declared by the United States on the 18th day
of June 1813, that he was drafted at Sevierville East Tennessee
on or about the 1st day of October AD 1814 for the term of six
months and continued on active service for the term of six months
and was honorarly discharged at Knoxville, Tennessee, on or about
the 1st May AD 1815, most of which will appear by the muster rolls
of the company, he says he has lost his discharge.
He makes this declaration for the purpose of obtaining the bounty
land to which he may be entitled under the act granting bounty
land to certain officers and soldiers who have been engaged in
the military service of the United States -- passed September
28th 1850.

Johnson's 3rd Regt., Pvt. in Capts. Andrew, Lawson and Duggins
